Just kidding. I’m not really joining the circus but I will be working on a new act. Juggling. Maybe if this doesn’t work out I’ll look into the circus thing. I’ve sort of hinted that something big was in store for me this year.
Back when I was undergoing chemo treatments, a friend told me about this quote from James Patterson called Five Balls and 2016 this quote resonates with me again…
“Imagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls. The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and integrity. And you’re keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls…are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered.”
Just like in the quote, 2016, I’ll be juggling work, family, health friends and integrity. But I could possibly rename them or even add to them (in no particular order)…work, family, health, friends, running, volunteer, & school. School?? Yes, that’s right, you read that correctly. I have a BA in Anthrolopology, a MA in Geography, and in 2017, I’ll have my health coach certification.
I’ve thought about this for years. Pulled the trigger several times, almost. I finally feel the universe pointing me in this direction, on this path towards something even bigger than I’ve done in the past. I’m not sure exactly what it will look like once I’m done but when I’m ready to share, I can guarantee you’ll be the first to know.
I’m starting a program at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition next week. It’s an online course that takes a year and at the end I will have my certification. The course will give me the tools I need to add to my toolbox to start my own business by helping people with getting healthy and staying that way. For me, I feel like this is just another piece in my puzzle that is helping me define my purpose. I have several friends and acquaintances that have gone through the program and have been successful. I’ve had a few people ask what does a health coach do and I recently came across this article recently posted in Men’s Journal – note that they mention IIN.
So as you can see, I’ll have a lot to juggle in my already busy life. I’m feeling pretty confident right now about this adventure…er juggling act. I’ll be updating you on what I learn throughout the year as well as looking for volunteers – I know this seems vague at the moment but stay tuned for the details.
